Tue, 26 August 2008 Hi,This episode is an interview with Alef Arendsen, a co-founder of SpringSource (originally interface21). Alef was kind enough to talk to us on his recent visit to Israel. in this talk Alef talks about the Spring Framework, and presents some of the other Spring products. This is quite a diverse talk as Spring cover a broad range of Java development areas. We talk about Spring's offerings for the OSGi model, specifically Spring Dynamic Modules for OSGi and the Spring Application Platform. We asked Alef about Spring's atittude towards the JEE spec and specifically the upcoming version 6. Alef talks about the technical roadmap of some of the Spring products. We learnt that SpringSource intend to further improve their support for the RESTful model, based on their current web framework Spring MVC which has a good REST mapping support. Alef talks about Spring's choice to provide an action based MVC framework as opposed to different models like RiA platforms or component based frameworks. We touched on many other interesting issues, this was a very interesting talk. Please note - the audio quality in this episode is not optimal. We had some trouble with the mic connection which we only found out about too late. We did our best to eliminate the noises. The content is superb though, and well worth your time. Hope you enjoy it.
